LUCCA, CITY OF ART
THE CENTRE
Reached by
Etruscans at the moment of their highest expansion, the city of Lucca became
a Roman military outpost during the 3rd century B.C.; it easy to find here
remainings of that time.
Through the
centuries, the city succeeded in reaching its own political and economical
autonomy, once it could get rid of feudal oppression after long lasting
struggles.
The
city deserves a visit, not only for its several works of art but also for
its historical centre, that has been left over and kept almost untouched.
L'Anfiteatro romano
You can see
the main central street: via Fillungo and, in its surroundings, you can
visit our Bottega dell'Arte Zubbolandia,
unique in its kind, because here are held several different courses and
here you can find everything you need for hobbies and bricolage. A little
bit below of the shop, you can see Piazza dell'Anfiteatro where on September
are held art, handcraft and folklore exhibitions that involve all the centre
for the whole month.
